Moses Costigan

Moses’ experiences of accessing support from occupational therapists as a child living with Cerebral Palsy propelled him towards a career as an Occupational Therapist.

Moses graduated with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy from the University of Newcastle in 2007. Moses commenced his career in occupational therapy in mental health as a new graduate OT in the inpatient mental health unit at Gosford Hospital. Following this, Moses held senior occupational therapist roles with NSW Health between 2008 and 2019 working in a range of settings including: early psychosis intervention services; mental health intensive care services; acute inpatient mental health units; and community mental health services.

Moses is an Endorsed Mental Health Occupational Therapist (by Occupational Therapy Australia) and holds professional memberships with:

  • Occupational Therapy Australia (OTA);

  • Australian Association for Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy (AACBT);

  • International Society for Psychological and Social Approaches to Psychosis - Australian chapter (ISPS Australia).

Moses has previously held academic appointments in the occupational therapy programs at the University of Newcastle (from 2011 to 2015) and Charles Sturt University, Port Macquarie (from 2019 to early 2021). Moses is in full time clinical practice but he remains actively involved in occupational therapy research.

Moses offers Medicare rebates for services provided under a Mental Health Care Plan, Eating Disorders Treatment Plan or Chronic Disease Management Plan.
